Earlier this week, a representative of the marketing department at HalloweenCostumes.com reached out to me in an email entitled “The Evolution of Jason Voorhees.” I’m sure I only ended up on their radar because of my trivia lists about each Friday the 13th movie. However, I hesitated to open the email simply because, for lack of a better description, I’m kind of over the Friday the 13th movies at this point. I don’t know that I really have a whole lot left to say about them.
Yeah, well I just needed to get over myself because what HalloweenCostumes.com wanted me to see is actually pretty awesome. It’s an infograph which charts the progression of Jason throughout the entire franchise, providing kill counts for each movie, ID’ing the actor who played Jason and even dropping a couple bits of trivia. It’s beautifully concise and remarkably well done with plenty of little gracenotes you might not notice at first, such as how the Jason from Friday the 13th Part 3 is animated to appear as he did when you watched the movie in 3D. Devin Rubink is the one who wrote the article about the Infographic at the HalloweenCostumes.com blog, and his article credits Jacob Kuddes for the design. Well, kudos to whoever made it. You killed it (do you see what I did there? What? You do, but you’re not laughing because you don’t think it’s funny. Ouch. You could at least humor me. Is that a smirk I see forming on your face now? No. It’s not. Huh. I could have sworn…). Without further adieu, behold the brilliance of the “Evolution of Jason Voorhees” infographic:
Check out their blog for more. While you’re there maybe browse through all the costumes they have for sell. I swear I’m not saying that as part of some ad. It’s more that it seems kind of strange to suggest you visit the blog of a website called HalloweenCostumes.com and not stop to gander at the actual costumes.
